| Description: | Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service currently seeks an Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper based in Baltimore, Maryland. The Accounts Receivable Bookkeeper is expected to perform complete accounts receivable function and provide support to the accounting staff. S/he ensures that day-to-day account receivable operations are running smoothly and properly resolves most exceptions and issues with little or no intervention by supervisor or higher authority. S/he engages in obtaining knowledge of LIRS activities, so that job performance may be most successful. |
| Duties: | - Receive all cash and check deposits sent to LIRS and RCUSA. Prepare deposit tickets for cash, process checks and money orders through Remote Deposit. Prepare Cash Receipts Journal and reconcile deposits to general ledger daily.
Process all refugee travel loan payments through the customized travel loan database. Input detailed payment information by client; reconcile clearing account with travel loan database on a daily basis. Key data into LIRS general ledger system, Excel and related databases from a wide variety of source documents. Manage non-grant related accounts receivable process for LIRS & RCUSA. Send invoices; follow up on overdue invoices; reconcile and research general ledger receivable accounts. Keep receivables current. Prepare reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, refugee loans and donations system. Identify and resolve issues. Support other accounting staff in their day-to-day functions, including research and limited cross training as well as assistance with monthly close, budget preparation and audits as necessary. Draw government funds using online system. Engagement in agency-wide activities and initiatives including all-staff meeting, working groups or task forces and implementation of strategic initiatives. Engagement in ongoing professional development. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

| Qualifications: | - Deep commitment to LIRS's core values and ability to model those values in relationships with colleagues and partners.
High school diploma or GED and three or more years in bookkeeping or accounting required College-level work or equivalent experience preferred Experience in a non-profit, preferred Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word software and banking applications such as remote deposit and cash receipt payment and processing Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce.
